A naming ceremony is a wonderful way for you to celebrate the birth of a child, or to welcome adopted or stepchildren into the family.
In the past most people had their children christened but many parents today are looking for something different to a church service.
Choosing an independent celebrant to host your naming ceremony creates the perfect chance to celebrate the naming of the child or children at any age. It enables the parent or parents to pledge their care and love to their child in front of family and friends and gives grandparents the opportunity to make promises to support the parent or parents in the raising of their grandchild.
As an independent celebrant, I will work with you to create a ceremony that includes specially chosen words and promises and can involve all of those close to the child or children – parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, guardians and friends, to create a unique and beautiful ceremony for this happy and memorable event.
Some people wish for a simple naming ceremony, others wish for the addition of vows and promises made by parents and supporting adults. It is your ceremony and you may choose whatever you wish.
There are also many traditional customs and additional elements to the naming ceremony which provide a lovely way of involving all the family especially older siblings and grandparents as they promise to help and support the child as he or she grows and develops, and takes their place in the world.
My Ceremony Menu page gives you a brief insight into some of these elements.
